Seniors Information
The Sunshine Gang is for anyone in our church fifty-five years of age or older. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month (except July) for a noon-time meal and fellowship. On the third Tuesday we meet at 9:00 at Loflin's Restaurant for breakfast.
In March of each year we hold our regular meeting at The Oaks Retirement Center and provide a program and snacks for the residents there. At other times during the year we assist in various capacities within the church.
During the year we plan four day-trips for our group. Most of our travel is done with Jesse Hill Tours. This year's trips included Historic Hillsborough and Replacements Ltd., Homeland Creamery, the Waldensian Trail, and the Selma Christmas show. Every trip is truly a time of fun and fellowship.
May is the month when we select someone in our group to be honored as Senior of the Year. Past winners include Robert Byerly, Mozell Woodlief, Marie Kanoy, Lillian Whitesides, Gilbert Myers, Norris Hill, Mary Lee Edwards, Meredith Myers, George and Viola Williamson, Lil and LaMar Miller, James and Elizabeth Beck, Virginia Fritts, Ruby Kanoy, John and Nona Clodfelter, Hilda Kanoy, Marie Waters, and Velma Wilkerson.
